Mex-Bex

It has been gorgeous weather in New Haven (although it is supposed to rain this weekend). Our neighborhood has instantly turned into the best place in America for walking outside with your kid and running into other people out walking with their kids. We go to the playground almost every night after day care and are starting to see all the same people. Tonight we ran into one couple that Topher knows and they ran into another couple on our same street that goes to our same day care. It is crazy. I guess that when you live in New Haven, all the Yale associated peeps are within one tiny neighborhood. It is starting to feel a bit more like home... that isn't quite true... maybe a home away from home. Last night we went out to our local Mexican restaurant and met two other families there with young kids. One guy that we are going to stalk until we are friends! Here are some pics of MexBex at Mezcal.

  1. Children really do connect you with other families. Just consider our friends in the neighborhood. Ready or not, Bex will bring on others.

Your weather sounds fabulous! (We still have huge piles of snow everywhere, but my tulips are finding their way up and out.)

  4. What are those little round "Mexican" things Bex is eating? I knew East Coast Mex is strange . . . but really . . . !

Spring! Ain't it grand? Explains most of Western-tradition literature. Moving in the winter was the right call. You get the full impact.

Hangin' out in the park with the friends and neighbors and their kids--excellent!

It rains A LOT in the summer. HUGE thunderstorms--group hugs under the bed stuff! It'll be another memorable "first" for the B-Boy, if not for his parents.

  5. God that kid is so freaking cute. And stocking people until they become your friend?? Have you seen Up All Night? Reminds me of an episode I saw recently about that same subject.

  6. These photos remind me of those shirts that say "my folks went to a (great Mexican restaurant) and all I got were these lousy (cheerios)" haha.
