Sandy

This weekend we headed up to NYC to see Colin's sister, Colleen. She has been working there for awhile and had the weekend off. Topher, Bex and I took the train up to the city and had an awesome day in the city. We went to multiple playgrounds, the water front with the Statue of Liberty in the background, a Mexican restaurant, SoHo, and Tribeca. It was a really great day and we just decided to splurge and stay the night there. It was nice because we had no problems staying the night despite being totally not prepared at all- we brought just the right number of diapers to get us through. I'm really glad that we went there last weekend because as everyone knows NYC got hit pretty hard by Sandy. We were really lucky to just get big winds. There are a few trees down around the neighborhood, but I've only seen one destroyed car. Lucky break! Here are the pics from NYC...

My little monster

Here is my little monster. I got this sweatshirt for Huck back when I was pregnant- knowing that someday it would come back to me. I don't think that Huck and Duke were very amused by the heavy-hood but Bex took a liking to the little bird.

KidCity

Here are the pics from our visit to KidCity- we became members too so any family member can join us for FREE. Book your visits! I know there is one picture without Bex but as you can see there are ping pong balls hovering over the pigs like magic... awesome.

Octoberfest

Just catching up the blog from last weekend when Cousin Meg was visiting. Here are some picture of our Octoberfest adventure. We didn't even know that this was happening until we saw our friends walking to the park. We decided to join them and wow!! It was the best day ever for Bex because there were SHEEP. That is currently his favorite animal sound to make. First it was "neigh" and then "oink" and then "pawoooo- elephant" and now "baa". He was a little terrified but still super excited to see and actually touch a sheep (there was even a three legged sheep- which Bex couldn't quite wrap his mind around). There was also a free eat-what-you-want chili-cookout-contest. We had free dinner, free beer, free trailer rides and of course the sheep.

Bocce Ball

Bex and Clare just playing a little Bocce Ball at a friends house this weekend. Check out Bex's hat that my sister knit!!

Just Be Cuz!!

We are so so so lucky to have at least one family member within 3000 miles of us. Cousin Meg came to visit during her Fall Break from Vassar. It was awesome because she stayed with us for 4 nights and it felt like it was a real vacation for all of us. We had an action-packed weekend full of Orchards, KidCity (again!), Octoberfest, Sheep, TWO hay-rides (neither with hay), a Chili-tasting cook-off, a friend's party, and best of all home-cooked meals compliments of Cousin Meg (and cookies too)!!!

I will try and re-cap with pictures. I will start with the Orchard trip. It was a Saturday trip planned by Bex's school. Bex had a lot of friends there and got to see both of his teachers too. He was a little confused to see them outside of school. The other super weird and creepy thing is that his school mascot (A giant bear with HUGE lips) that was in attendance... Bex was not amused.

Boy down

Bex was taken DOWN by his friend Clare. She wrestled him to the ground. He put up with it for quite awhile before starting to cry. Note the cardboard elevator that Clare's dad made for her. It is pretty awesome and hilarious watching BOTH kids try and fit in together- maybe that's why my boy got taken down!

Whale of a weekend

We went to the Mystic Aquarium this weekend with Bex's friend Clare. We had an awesome time. The Beluga whales were amazing and really interacted with the people. Bex got a little nervous when they head butted the glass though. Here are some pics from our adventure. I just kept thinking how much Bex's cousins would have enjoyed it- Duke would have been singing "Baby Beluga" the entire ride home!
