Little King Tut

We just arrived back from a short trip to New Hampshire after our first east coast Christmas as a little family. We were all spoiled rotten for Christmas with too many presents to count and a very very happy little boy. We headed up to the Inn at Crotched Mountain in New Hampshire for a little rest and relaxation. Here are a few pictures of our adventures. Topher and Bex on an early morning walk, our little king tut eating in his royal chair at the Inn (note the terrible wall paper and awesome hand-me-down PJs), baby Picasso has really taken to drawing at restaurants, and lastly we arrived home to New Hay Hay just before a big winter storm came in (picture taken through our window looking down at my sad covered up car). We missed everyone over the holidays... and continue to.

TIMBER...

On Sunday we went out and got a Christmas tree. It was very cold so we all bundled up and then went to cut down our tree. It was not at all like Alaska tree-cutting but we had a great time anyway. I think that the series of events were captured pretty well in the pictures....

Rebels

This is a movie of Bex and Clare trying to ditch Toddler Tunes and leave via the magic button in the back of the room. Alas, the door did not open so they went back to dance it off.

Box, Bex, Blocks

Bex has learned to say his name!! This weekend he was SO proud of himself and he just kept saying Bex and pointing to himself. The kicker is that his two most favorite things in life sound exactly the same. Turns out that Bex sounds a lot like box and blocks (something that we had not considered when naming him.) He is newly obsessed with blocks and wants to build and destroy all the time. He has laser-like focus like his dad and can sit for quite awhile and build. Here are a few pics of his latest block/box/bex session. His shirt is compliments of his cousin Duke.

DJ Bexy Bex

Bex finally decided to rock out with his hat that was a gift from our friends Kim and Bill from SF. He is so hipster and he doesn't even know it. He would be off the charts if he was in his skinny jeans. Here are a few pics... as you can see it unfortunately doesn't fit adults.

Festivus for the rest of us

The end of the semester is crazy for teachers. I remember it was hell when I was a student but I hadn't appreciated that it is just the same for the faculty. So much grading!! The good news is that my last week is next week and they are giving presentations so there will be no prep time for me. We hit up KidCity again- because it is so freakin' awesome. Below is a picture of Bex on Route 66 and then doing his favorite activity there- which is painting the wall. Also I am including the only Christmas decoration that we have up. I made Bex a felt tree with ornaments, presents, and a star! Not sure when we will get our real tree up.

Better late than Gobble

Here are the pics from Thanksgiving that our friends just gave us. My favorite one is of Topher and Jeff looking at the Turkey...

Cool as a cucumber

Topher and I were talking in the living room and Bex was making a ruckus in his room. Apparently he was getting ready to show us just how cool he is...

Out out out

We have been having a wonderful time playing outside this fall and as winter approaches. Bex loves being outside and it is a bit of a bummer that it is dark when we pick him up from school. We try to make up for it by being outside a lot on the weekends. He has been wearing his purple fleece suit which is a hand-me-down from his cousins... I guess they liked purple too! He often gets mistaken for a girl but he doesn't seem to mind. Auntie Lia also gave us his dog-mitt mittens which are used for sled-dogs up in AK. They are great for kiddos because you can really strap their little hands in with velcro and they have enough fabric so that he can still pick things up. He really likes them and asks to put them on before heading out. His teachers were calling him Rocky- because he looks like a boxer with his hands taped up.

Fig Pig

We discovered Bex's love of figs this weekend. We were having dinner at Clare's house this weekend and Bex ate ALL her figs. Not just most of them, but ALL of them. Clare got him back by taking his bear hat. We also decided on having Thanksgiving dinner at our house this weekend. That means that we will be making the turkey- funny considering our lack of cooking skills. I'm hoping that cousin Meg will come and help!

Lion King

Bex was a ferocious lion for Halloween this year. We had a fun-filled festive holiday with an insane pumpkin carving party at our house with four little people running everywhere. It was as if a mini-hurricane Sandy came in and swept all the toys out of Bex's room and threw them around the rest of the house. We had a great time though. We then had some people over for Halloween night because we live in a great trick-or-treating neighborhood. Here are some pics of the Lion King and his best friend the Clare the cow.

Sandy

This weekend we headed up to NYC to see Colin's sister, Colleen. She has been working there for awhile and had the weekend off. Topher, Bex and I took the train up to the city and had an awesome day in the city. We went to multiple playgrounds, the water front with the Statue of Liberty in the background, a Mexican restaurant, SoHo, and Tribeca. It was a really great day and we just decided to splurge and stay the night there. It was nice because we had no problems staying the night despite being totally not prepared at all- we brought just the right number of diapers to get us through. I'm really glad that we went there last weekend because as everyone knows NYC got hit pretty hard by Sandy. We were really lucky to just get big winds. There are a few trees down around the neighborhood, but I've only seen one destroyed car. Lucky break! Here are the pics from NYC...
