sykpe hype

It has been difficult for us east coasters to talk and connect with our west coast and Alaska families. The time change really is a huge pain in the butt. When our friends are just getting home from work, we are already in bed. Ugh... I hate that part of being so far away. Everyone reading should get skype and find me, I think that my user name is lanikeller. Let's all skype. See below for how awesome it can be. Bex gets completely transfixed though because he doesn't get to watch screens very often and he LOVES it.

Shake it, Moon it!

Auntie mary left this morning and she will be greatly missed. She left us a bunch of packs of gum and Bex was VERY excited about these. He learned that he could shake them and make some pretty awesome music. I was taking a video of him shakin' it and then he did the best thing ever and just turned around and mooned his dad. Ha! Video posted below for your viewing pleasure.

AUNTIE MARY!!

Auntie Mary came to visit this weekend. We have had a wonderful, fabulous, and amazing time! We drove up the coast to Mystic Pizza (yes, from the movie), played endlessly with Bex, and drooled continuously on Mary. At first Bex was a little timid around Mary but by the end he was literally crawling all over her. Topher watched Bex one night so Mary and I got to go out on the town a little and had awesomely bizarre sushi (compliments of Auntie Sarah who gave us a gift certificate when we arrived in CT). It was really fun to have a friend in town. Here are a few pics of our adventures:

Speedy

We have a speedster on our hands. Bex has gotten seriously fast in the last week. Noticeably faster! Watch the video below for evidence. We have another visitor coming this week and I couldn't be more excited. Auntie Mary is visiting from SF from Thursday-Sunday!! Everyone reading should start getting ideas and planning their visits ;)

Impromtu birthday!

The family from Cali have left and it is back to just the four of us: Topher, Bex, Beast, and I. On Grandma and crazy aunt Katie's last night they made Topher a birthday cake since they weren't with us to celebrate. Katie also came bearing gifts including a gift certificate to our favorite pub down the street called Archie Moore's- Bex loves it there because there are TVs everywhere. She also gave me a VINTAGE yale sweatshirt. I mean really vintage. It was Susan's from the 1950s. AWESOME! She also got Bex a wonderful hat pictured below. Also included is a pic of Topher blowing out his candles.

Cali comes to visit!

We have our first overnight guests! Bex is super excited that Grandma and crazy aunt Katie are visiting from SoCal. They arrived Wednesday night and we immediately went out for some beers to celebrate. Bex celebrates with his first ever french fry, which he really enjoyed before he choked on it. Last night after Bex went down we had a wonderful home cooked meal compliments of Susan! Bex then had an epically bad night (for him) because he is getting sick yet again. This day care thing is really beefing up his immune system... at least that is what I keep telling myself. Topher and I went to work today and Bex got to stay home with the visitors instead of heading to day care. Here are some pics of Bex eating his first fry and of our lovely dinner at home.

AK unite!!

This Saturday we packed up the car and headed out of Connecticut... to (drum roll please)... POUGHKEEPSIE, NY. We visited cousin Meg at Vassar. It is a stunningly beautiful campus, despite being the ugliest time of year! We had a wonderful time visiting Meg and ate delicious Indian food and walked all around campus and met a bunch of her friends. All in all it was a good trip and really good to see some family on the East. Here is a pic from our walk:

Van Gogh

Bex had his first doctor's appointment in New Haven this morning. That means that he stayed home from school and spent the morning with us. It was a nice relaxing morning and then off to get his flu booster shot. We were literally in the doctor's office for a grand total of five minutes with about 10 seconds of screaming. It was the easiest shot that he has had to date. After that we headed to drop him off at daycare. We walked in and the babies were PAINTING!! One of the kids, Sammy, who is a real piece of work, had a completely blue face. He had definitely eaten most of the paint. Bex was super excited to jump in so we immediately stripped him down and he went to paint. He was clearly unsure at first- as you can see in the pics but then seemed to enjoy it. That is Hanana Banana sitting next to him and you can see Miss Holly, one of his teachers in the shot too.

He gives me fever...

Fever! In the morning, FEVER at supper time! Actually Bex just had a fever in the afternoon and evening. I can't believe that he is sick yet again! I swear this daycare thing is something else. Everyone warned me about the continual sickness but I thought that people were overreacting. Apparently NOT! I have also been told that if he wasn't in daycare that it would happen in kindergarten. I guess that we may as well get it over with. Anyway, Bex and I stayed home from work today and had a great day. His fever seemed to be gone by the morning and he was in good spirits all day. Hopefully he sleeps better tonight... the snot is THICK!! Here are a few shots of Bex and I at home today. Notice the heat-map shot and the absence of a fever!

Guilty

It seems like Bex is like a little sponge and learning so much so fast right now. He has a little stool which he loves to put his hands on and work and work until finally he is on his feet. I can't believe he is pulling himself up already (I will try and get a picture of this soon). He is also eating a huge amount right now. I'm not sure if it is a growth spurt or rather babies just really start chowing down around 8mo. His crawling is out of control. He is crawling so quickly that we have to start keeping a much better eye on him. Notice the sequences of events below leading to Bex trying his first (I'm sure not last) taste of cat food.

Bex, Topher and I also wants to wish aunt Marnice a very happy birthday!

Guitar

Topher has been playing guitar to Bex a lot lately. In fact, he has a different song for many of Bex's activities. Lucky little Bex has a 'sleeping song' an 'eating song' and a 'playing song.' However, Bex seems to be more interested in playing his own songs than listening to dad.
