Mom and Seeester

Sorry that I've been a bad blogger as of late. I have been too depressed to post all the fun pics of my mom and sister's visit. It just sucks being so far away from family, especially knowing that it is going to be like this for an undetermined about of time. Ugh. Hate. Sad. Needless to say that we had a fantastic time when they were here and literally did everything there is to do in New Haven, including going to a a very muddy park (shown below). I will post more when my spirits are higher...

Naked after a long weekend

We had a very long and fun weekend. We went to Boston for a friend's wedding celebration this weekend. We stayed in some shady hotel and took Bex with us to the party. He did great (and even rocked the dance floor) until about 9pm and then he was just finished. The next morning we drove into Cambridge and had breakfast with a friend that Topher went to grad school with. Bex had an awesome time running around the playground in Cambridge and walking up and down the hall of our friend's very un-child-friendly apartment. We then drove back to New Haven (about 2.5h and Bex slept the ENTIRE way) and went to a BBQ at one of Topher's colleague's houses in a neighborhood where we may potentially buy next year. It was a very fun and busy weekend to say the least. Bex unwound by doing a little laundry...

Walking Fool

Bex is a walking maniac. I feel like it happened all within one week. He used to walk along the wall and now he just goes straight for the middle of the room (or for the cat). It is almost strange to see him on his knees, because he is not into crawling anymore. He's all growed up folks. The other big news is the tooth breaking on through to the other side. Finally it is showing its tiny white self and Bex has been in a much better mood. Tomorrow there is a neighborhood fair that we are going to in the morning and then we head to Boston for a friend's wedding party! Yee-haw!

N to the Y to the C

The Keller-Carroll clan had quite an exciting weekend. Topher headed up to NYC on Friday after work to hang out with some friends from his old lab at Stanford. Bex and I got ourselves ready and packed up for Bex's first train trip on Saturday morning. It was super easy and Bex was a good boy on the ride up. Topher met us at the train station and then we had a great afternoon playing in the grass at Bryant Park, riding the subway to SoHo, walking around in his new teeny tiny $15 stroller. On saturday night Topher's mom and sister came and babysat while Topher and I went to a wedding at the Boat House in Central Park (we even took a peddler taxi to the wedding through central park!)

Mother's Day Tea

On Thursday of this week Apple Tree Day Care had all of the mothers come in for tea and snacks. It was great and I got to meet a few of other moms that I hadn't met yet. It was really fun to hang out with all the babies and the moms together for a little while. They also gave us our mother's day gift, which is so cute. Bex clearly worked very hard on his (note the "handprint" is definitely more a schmear on the pot).

Bexosaurus

Last Sunday Meg and I went on a nice long walk with Bex. We ended up at the Yale Peabody museum which is pretty awesome for being the local museum. Anyone with a Yale ID gets in for free so it is wonderful for us and I think that Bex will grow up learning a lot about Dinosaurs! The Peabody specializes in Dino bones! Topher met us there after a bit. Bex loved looking up so high to see the Dinos and he also loved banging on the glass of the dioramas :)

Damn Beast

We got home from picking up the boy from day care and I started to wash his bottles (my least favorite chore ever) and I heard meowing. Not calm, nice meowing but meowing like, "Help me. I'm stuck!" Indeed Beast was in fact stuck. She had opened a cabinet in the kitchen and went way back and managed to wedge her very, very extra long body into a very small space behind the cabinet. She was officially stuck and way too dumb to figure out how to get out. Even enticing her with fancy feast did not work. To make a long ordeal short, we borrowed a saw from the downstairs neighbors and literally CUT her out. It sounds easy but it was a huge pain and involved both Topher and I getting into the cabinet ourselves and taking turns sawing and cutting her out. That damn beast. She is out now and seems totally fine.

Meg-o-rama!!

We are so so lucky to have cousin Meg nearby!! She took the train down from Poughkeepsie, NY and into New Haven for the weekend and we had the best time. It is just so nice to: 1) Have some family relatively close and 2) To have some help with Bex!! We had a bunch of adventures including a walk through the Yale campus, a trip to the playground, our first BBQing outside, a visit to the Peabody museum, dining outside at the local market, and more. I feel like she was here a lot longer than just one night. We will definitely miss her over the summer. However we have a few big weekends coming up. Next weekend we have a wedding in NYC and Topher's mom is coming to visit! The next weekend we are going to Boston for another friend's wedding celebration! The next week my mom and sister come to visit!! As my cousin Wylie would say... YYYYAAAAAAHHHHHHOOOOOOO!!!

Topher and I both had a shit-tastic Friday. We picked up Bex a little early and headed straight for the Mexican restaurant down the street and had nachos and margaritas. Everyone is feeling much better!! We are excited about hopefully seeing cousin Meg tomorrow and Bex can show her his new book that he is obsessed with...

Bex has been having a wonderful time at school lately. They have been enjoying the wonderful weather and the kids are much more active now. In his room, the kids are all turning one, and today Bex got to try carrott cake for Julia's birthday. Apparently he did NOT like the cake- but LOVED the frosting (he must take after me!) They have also been doing a lot of art lately. Below are some lovely pictures that Bex has done. The one of his handprints is currently up in the classroom. He picked out he purple paper and blue paint all by himself and then preceded to rip his art in half. The third one is a bit more abstract. We have two of them up in his room hanging with the nerdy flashcards- note the Hydrogen Bonds in the background of one of them :)  He has been exhausted after school but has been on a great routine and has been sleeping really well from 8pm-6am. We are lucky parents!
